Cooperative Leadership Camp

As a member of the Cooperative Council of North Carolina, the State Grange sends two youth to the annual summer Cooperative Youth Leadership Conference (Co-op Camp).  Held each June at the NC FFA Center at White Lake, the purpose of the camp is to learn about the cooperative way of doing business, to develop leadership skills, to build a better understanding and appreciation for cooperatives and to recognize outstanding North Carolina youth for their leadership qualities.  As a special recognition, five youth who participate in the camp and possess unique leadership skill will be selected for an expense-paid trip to the National Institute on Cooperative Education, usually held at the beginning of August.  Furthermore, all campers are eligible to apply for the special $1,000 Cooperative Leadership Camp College Scholarship.

Levi Giardina and Andrew Martin represented the NC State Grange at Co-op Camp in 2008.  These youth learned about cooperatives, expanded their leadership skills, made new friends and enjoyed outdoors activities by the lake.
