Grange Camp

The State Grange believes in helping juniors to become leaders. We strive to help them grow, learn, and believe in themselves all while having fun. Grange Camp is the most popular event for juniors! Camp is available for children starting at 8 years old.

Every summer since 1940, the Grange has held camp and the tradition is still strong as ever. We participate in camp adventures such as canoeing, kayaking, games, arts and crafts, crabbing, swimming, and a campfire. Various activities help build leadership, integrity, promote responsibility, and nurture teambuilding skills. There is also an opportunity to learn about the Grange and its history through Model Grange, learn about our country, and express patriotism. In addition, we adopt a special community service project such as making flowerpots for seniors or sending care packages to soldiers overseas. On top of these camp activities, campers make new friends, visit with old ones, and make lifetime memories.

Grange Camp is held at the Eastern 4-H Center in Columbia, NC on the beautiful Albemarle Sound. Bus transportation is available.

Junior Leadership Team

Our newest program offers a group of 6 Juniors the opportunity to serve on the Junior Leadership Team.  Selected each spring through an application process, the team participates in a leadership experience by helping lead Junior activities daily at Grange Camp.  Each team member is also partnered with a mentor from the Youth Leadership Team to gain leadership knowledge.

State Junior Officers

Each year at Grange Camp, Juniors are selected to serve as State Junior Officers for Model Grange, where they learn about the history of the Grange and perform officer duties.  It is an honor to serves as an officer and offers another great leadership experience for Juniors.

Contests and Awards

Juniors can get involved and win cash prizes by participating in a wide variety of contests.  Each spring, the State Grange holds its annual Talent Show at Family Conference.  And each fall, Juniors can submit entries in many contests including photography, art, crafts, writing and baking.  We also offer awards for collecting Can Tabs for the Ronald McDonald House and honor a Junior Granger of the Year.
